Tonight's reading is about how the people of Israel had forgotten all about God. They were worshiping false gods. Elijah warned the people about the wrong path they were going down, but they didn't listen. Elijah proposed a challenge to the people of Israel. They would each build an altar and call upon their god to bring fire as a sign as to who was the true God.

So it was 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah (false gods) against Elijah in this prayer challenge. Of course our true God brought fire proving He is The Almighty!!

I got a little crafty with some scrap felt and foam pieces.....


Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed. ~1 Kings 18:24
